Flax and Fibres at Moneydarragh Hub | Grove of the Oaks Festival & Linen Biennale 2023

Celebrate Moneydarragh Hub’s history as a flax retting field with a day of talks, demonstrations and more!

A day of linen-themed talks, demonstrations and more at Moneydarragh Hub celebrating the area’s history as a flax retting field.

Speakers will Bronagh McAtasney of the Digital Film Archive who will show historical footage of linen production and some interesting linen related projects and textile artist Emma Whitehead, who is currently engaged with the Linen Biennale through her Longest Linen Tablecloth project.

A tapestry weaving demonstration will take place across the day with textile artist Rena Roohipour.

This event is part of Moneydarragh Hub's Grove of the Oaks Festival, celebrating the environment and sustainability in rural Mourne. The Flax and Fibres event is also part of the Linen Biennale 2023.
